Department of Production Engineering

The department is well known in Pune University for its rank holders. As per ‘US Market Research Analyst’ survey, Production Engineering branch has bright future in new era. Highly qualified & senior faculties are involved in R & D of conventional/ Non-conventional machining & industrial engineering areas.

Department has following laboratories-

• Basic Workshop
• Advanced Machine Shop
• Metrology & Quality Control Lab
• Metal Cutting & Tool Design Lab
• Metallurgy Lab
• Project Lab
• CAD/ CAM Lab.

The CAD/ CAM Lab is equipped with latest softwares like Unigraphics, MasterCAM, Pro-E, CatiaV5, Ansys, Solid Edge, Witness. The department runs certificate courses on these software for the students.

Department regularly organizes National level workshop/ seminars, paper presentations etc. Students participate in various extra & co-curricular activities through Production Engineering Students’ Association (PESA).

Advanced Machine Shop

Today’s era is of computerization & automation in the industries. For the students to be compatible in this scenario in industries the college has added a new Smarturn CNC Machine worth 17.32 lakhs

from Lakshmi Machine Works Limited, Coimbatore in our workshop. In CNC machine the operations on the job are carried out completely with the help of computer programmer & human assistance is required only for job loading & unloading.

CNC has following features:

• Manufacture of high quality parts
• High precision machining
• Reduced setup time
• Excellent part to part repeat accuracies.

The college has given Training in CNC Programming & Maintenance to Prof. R.S.Tajane & two faculty members at LMW Ltd. Coimbatore. Now the department can provide training to the students on CNC Machine & also conduct courses in CNC programming.
